Blockbuster New Releases – 22nd April

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

I hope you are all well. This week finally sees the release of Twilight. I really want to see this film out of curiosity as to what has made it (and the books especially) such a phenomena.

This week also has a few other good looking movies with a heartfelt offering from Will Smith and a 50′s B-Movie remake from Keanu Theodore Logan….. Sorry Keanu Reeves!!

I’m getting ready for a move right now so my movie watching has been on the backburner.

Does Pontypool Change Everything?

Monday, March 16th, 2009

Picking up my copy on Montreal’s “The Mirror” this morning I was especially happy to see that acclaimed low budget Torontonian director Bruce McDonald has what looks like a genre boundary pushing Zombie flick due for release.

Based on the book Pontypool Changes Everything, the new movie Pontypool: Shut Up Or Die, looks to the old horrors to bring fresh life into the every repeating zombie genre…. and I must say I am damn excited to go and see this film.

Pontypool takes place in Eastern Ontario and Quebec as a virus spread rapidly through the areas turning people into flesh eating zombies. Gone are the over the top gore and gratuitous violence scenes that do nothing for the movie. Pontypool brings back the sensibilities of the old style of horror. It takes place mostly inside one radio station as a foul mouthed bad attitude bearing (That’s his shtick!!) host tries to keep it together and make sense of the days events.

I simply can’t wait…. Maybe I will finally be scared. Here is the trailer, let me know what you think?

What’s your favorite Zombie flick.
